Message from the President of PRCA Malaysia for 2020 / 2022

Message from the President of PRCA Malaysia for 2020 / 2022

I am humbled by the opportunity to once again serve PRCA Malaysia as its President. This will be my second term. As you may have noticed, we have had a number of Exco members who have “retired” while a some of us have remained on the Committee. We are also delighted to reshuffle our portfolios and welcome new members to the Exco.

On behalf of each and every one of us at PRCA Malaysia, I wish to record my thanks to Elaine Chuah, Niall Dologhan and Syed Mohammed Idid who have completed their term as Exco members. My sincere appreciation to Jacqueline Arnold, Anita Chandran, Felix Heinimann and David Lian for staying on for another term. I am also excited to have Prof. Mohd Said Bani C.M. Din, Stefanie Braukmann joining us in the Exco, as well as and Rozani Jainudeen returning to serve again.

I am truly grateful to be given the opportunity to work with a team of industry leaders and experts. Indeed, the industry will need our collective strength to push us to the next level. No doubt, we are in a period of unprecedented challenges. In this regard, the new Exco team must be even more creative and bold in steering the industry forward in the months and years ahead.

The COVID-19 era presents to us a disruption that we have never faced before. Our ability as an industry will be tested and the game changer will fall on our commitment to upskill and reskill our talent pool.

In fact, we have to reinvent ourselves holistically if we are to come out of this “tsunami”. We are already seeing the effects on our business, people and the way we work. The road ahead will not be easy but I am confident, if we all work together, the industry will certainly come out stronger. This is a “once in a lifetime” opportunity for us to fundamentally change and be recognised at the leadership and strategic level of businesses and organisations. The truth is, in the new marketplace, the glam of events and “old school” media relations, is no longer sustainable as a business or profession. It is no longer a choice. We either step up our game or be swept away by this storm.

Once again, thank you for your support and confidence in the Exco. We will be regrouping and planning the Association’s programmes and initiatives for 2020 and 2021 in the coming weeks. Do expect an update from us soon.

Thank you.

Andy See Teong Leng
President
